The story of Ravines Wine Cellar begins with Morten & Lisa Hallgren, a European Winemaker/Oenologist and his Chef wife. Their journey led them through various vineyards across different countries before they settled in the Finger Lakes. Here, Morten started his detailed exploration of the region. In 2001, the Hallgrens purchased 17 acres of land on the steep eastern slopes of Keuka Lake, nestled between two deep ravines. These ravines, a characteristic feature of the Finger Lakes, play a crucial role in draining cold air and water from the vineyards. The specific ravines on the Hallgrens' property inspired the name of their winery and became the location for Ravines' first tasting room. During the tasting, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about this intriguing winery. You can try samples, indulge in flights, or even purchase a bottle to pair with dinner or take home.
